Record Growth of 33.2% Highlights Strength of Foreign Currency Inflows to Egypt
Remittances from Egyptians working abroad continued their strong upward momentum during the first ten months of fiscal year 2025/2026 (July–April), rising by 33.2% to reach a record inflow of approximately USD 39.2 billion, compared to around USD 29.4 billion in the same period of FY 2024/2025.
The sustained increase reflects growing confidence in Egypt’s formal banking channels, alongside improved remittance systems and stronger financial ties between expatriates and the domestic economy.
Monthly Remittances Jump 44% in April 2026
On a monthly basis, remittances from Egyptian expatriates recorded a significant increase of 44.0% in April 2026, reaching about USD 4.3 billion, compared to approximately USD 3.0 billion in April 2025.
This sharp monthly rise underscores the continued positive trend in foreign currency inflows, contributing to stronger external liquidity and supporting overall economic stability.

Remittances from Egyptians abroad remain one of the most important sources of foreign currency for Egypt, playing a vital role in strengthening the balance of payments and supporting foreign exchange reserves.
The continued growth also reflects increased trust in the Egyptian banking system, as well as the expansion of secure and efficient remittance channels.
Sustained Upward Trend Supports Economic Stability
Recent data indicates a consistent upward trajectory in remittance inflows, driven by improved digital banking services, enhanced financial inclusion, and government efforts to facilitate formal transfer channels.
This trend is expected to continue in the coming period, supporting macroeconomic stability and reinforcing Egypt’s external financial position amid global economic uncertainties.
