TikTok has announced the launch of a new set of initiatives aimed at strengthening artificial intelligence (AI) awareness, transparency, and digital literacy across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The initiatives are designed to help users better identify, understand, and engage with AI-generated content, as the rapid development of artificial intelligence continues to transform the way people create, share, and discover digital content.
Through these efforts, TikTok is reinforcing its commitment to responsible innovation, online safety, and building greater trust within its global community.
Enhanced Systems to Detect AI-Generated Spam and Misleading Content
As part of its ongoing efforts to protect platform integrity, TikTok has begun testing enhanced detection systems designed to identify accounts that primarily publish AI-generated spam and non-authentic content at scale.
The new systems will initially focus on areas where content accuracy and public trust are especially important, including politics and current events, financial advice, and medical information.
The move builds on TikTok’s existing enforcement measures, which resulted in the removal of more than 86 million fake accounts during the first quarter of this year as part of the platform’s efforts to combat fraudulent activity and protect users.
More Than Three Billion AI-Generated Videos Labeled for Transparency
TikTok has labeled more than three billion AI-generated videos to date through a combination of Content Credentials, creator disclosure tools, and invisible watermarking technology.
These tools provide users with clearer information about whether content has been created or significantly modified using artificial intelligence, helping audiences better understand the digital content they consume.
TikTok is also expanding its leadership in AI transparency by joining the Steering Committee of the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), an international initiative focused on developing standards that improve content authenticity and traceability.
Two years ago, TikTok became the first video platform to implement C2PA Content Credentials, establishing a new standard for transparency around AI-generated and AI-modified content.
New Educational Resources to Promote AI Literacy
Recognizing the importance of education in helping people navigate the evolving digital landscape, TikTok has partnered with the National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE) and AI expert Henry Ajder to develop educational resources focused on responsible AI use.
The new materials aim to provide users with practical knowledge and skills to identify AI-generated content and make more informed decisions online.
TikTok continues to invest in expert-led programs that promote AI literacy and responsible technology adoption. Through partnerships with organizations including No Filtr and Raspberry Pi, educational content has generated more than 200 million views since the program launched in November 2025.
To support these initiatives, TikTok has committed more than US$4 million and will continue expanding their reach across communities.
AI Creates New Opportunities for MENA Creators
Across the Middle East and North Africa, creators are increasingly using artificial intelligence as a tool for storytelling, education, and creative expression.
From producing original visual experiences to exploring innovative content creation techniques, creators across the region are demonstrating how AI can unlock new opportunities while maintaining responsible and transparent practices.
TikTok continues to support this creative growth by investing in AI-powered tools such as Smart Split and AI Outline, alongside features like Manage Topics, which give users greater control over their content experience and help them manage the type of AI-generated content they encounter.
Commitment to a Safer and More Transparent Digital Future
As artificial intelligence continues to evolve, TikTok remains committed to working with technology experts, educators, and industry partners across the MENA region and globally to promote AI literacy, strengthen transparency, and encourage responsible innovation.
Through these initiatives, TikTok aims to create a safer digital environment where communities can confidently create, discover, and connect while understanding the role of artificial intelligence in shaping the future of online content.
