Egyptians Abroad Send Record $43.1 Billion Home in 11 Months as Remittances Surge 31%

Remittances from Egyptians working abroad continued their strong upward trajectory, recording significant growth during the first eleven months of the fiscal year 2025/2026, reflecting the continued contribution of expatriate Egyptians to the country’s foreign currency inflows.

According to official data, remittances from Egyptians abroad increased by 31.2% during the period from July to May of FY 2025/2026, reaching approximately $43.1 billion, compared with nearly $32.8 billion during the same period of FY 2024/2025.

Monthly Remittances Rise to $3.9 Billion in May 2026

On a monthly basis, Egyptian expatriate remittances also recorded notable growth in May 2026, increasing by 13.5% year-on-year.

Remittance inflows reached approximately $3.9 billion in May 2026, compared with around $3.4 billion in May 2025, highlighting the continued improvement in transfers from Egyptians working overseas.

Egyptians Abroad Support Foreign Currency Inflows

The continued rise in remittances from Egyptians abroad represents an important source of foreign currency for Egypt and reflects the economic role played by the Egyptian diaspora worldwide.

The strong growth in remittance flows supports economic stability and contributes to strengthening Egypt’s external financial resources.
