The U.S. Embassy in Cairo celebrated the graduation of 240 university students, government employees, and technology professionals from the English for Career Readiness and AI Literacy (ECRAiL) program.
Held at the Cairo Marriott Hotel, the graduation ceremony marked the completion of an intensive 180-hour training program developed by American and Egyptian experts and implemented by the U.S.-based nonprofit organization Amideast. The program was designed to bridge the gap between English language proficiency, advanced artificial intelligence skills, and the evolving demands of today’s job market. It also highlighted U.S. leadership in technology and private sector development while reinforcing the value of the U.S.-Egypt partnership in preparing Egypt’s future workforce.
As part of strengthening this partnership, the U.S. Embassy organized an exclusive career fair featuring more than 20 leading employers, including General Motors Egypt, IBM, the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI), Dnaaya, Areeb Technology, Pyramids Bits, Sprints AI, VOIS, SITA Egypt, Tech Mahindra, Next Technology Development, QNBeyond Plus, Evolvice, Vertex Technologies, Raya CX, Ibnsina Pharma, the Saudi Egyptian Industrial Investments Company, and Nahdet Misr Group.
Speaking at the ceremony, Robin Haroutunian, Minister Counselor for Public Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, said:
“As the global leader in artificial intelligence and digital innovation, the United States is Egypt’s natural partner in building a future that delivers greater security and prosperity for both our countries. I encourage you to connect with the outstanding technology companies that joined us here today.”
The ECRAiL initiative, funded by the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, was delivered directly within local communities in Cairo, Alexandria, and Aswan. This community-based approach enabled participants to connect classroom learning with real-world economic opportunities. The curriculum combined professional English language training with AI literacy and digital skills, while also offering interactive site visits to regional companies, startup incubators, and industrial facilities. In addition, prominent business leaders participated as guest speakers, providing practical insights, mentorship, and career guidance.
