Thanawat Sirikul, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Cairo, said tourism represents a key bridge for strengthening friendship, understanding and communication between the Egyptian and Thai peoples, stressing the importance of joint efforts to expand travel and cultural exchange between the two countries.
He made the remarks during his participation in the “Meet and Greet Dinner 2026,” held as part of efforts to enhance tourism cooperation and showcase Thailand’s tourism and cultural attractions. The event was organized in partnership with Gulf Air and attended by representatives of tourism and travel companies, media outlets and content creators in Egypt.
The Thai ambassador said every traveler who returns home with a positive experience from a trip can become an “unofficial ambassador” for the destination visited by sharing their experiences and impressions of its culture, traditions and daily life. This, he noted, contributes to promoting mutual understanding and appreciation among peoples.
He added that Thailand welcomes Egyptian tourists to discover the kingdom’s cultural and natural diversity, from the vibrant streets of Bangkok and its enchanting beaches and islands to its renowned cuisine, local traditions and varied lifestyles across the country’s different regions.
Sirikul explained that the tourism experience in Thailand extends beyond visiting landmarks and natural attractions to include the country’s renowned hospitality and respect for different cultures and religions, making it a suitable destination for travelers from around the world.
He affirmed the Royal Thai Embassy in Cairo’s commitment to continuing its efforts to strengthen relations between Egypt and Thailand and to support initiatives aimed at promoting cultural exchange and cooperation in education, trade and tourism, while creating more opportunities for communication and interaction between the two peoples.
He noted that the four-day Thailand Festival in Cairo 2026 reflected the strong interest among the Egyptian public in Thai culture, cuisine and traditions, stressing that attendance and engagement with the festival’s activities were “highly encouraging.”
The ambassador called for building on this interest and turning it into tangible opportunities to increase travel and tourism between Egypt and Thailand. He emphasized the importance of partnerships with tourism companies, travel agents, media outlets and content creators in promoting Thailand as a destination and strengthening its presence in the Egyptian market.
Sirikul praised the role played by Gulf Air and Thailand’s partners in the travel and media sectors in supporting tourism flows and turning interest in Thailand into actual travel experiences, benefiting from their expertise, networks and relationships with travelers.
He also called on Egyptian tour operators, travel agents, journalists and content creators to strengthen their engagement with the Thai market, discover more destinations and new experiences, and showcase the kingdom’s rich heritage, traditions and culture alongside its well-known tourist attractions.
The Thai ambassador stressed that tourism, together with education, culture and trade, represents a key pillar of relations between Egypt and Thailand. He said joint events and meetings contribute to the exchange of ideas, open new avenues for cooperation and build partnerships that serve the interests of both countries while strengthening the human ties between their peoples.
Sirikul concluded by expressing Thailand’s eagerness to welcome more Egyptian tourists, saying that the kingdom always looks forward to welcoming its friends from Egypt and giving them the opportunity to discover the richness and diversity of Thai culture, as well as enjoy the country’s stunning natural beauty and varied tourism experiences.
