Romania is participating in the Cairo International Book Fair as the Guest of Honour, marking 120 years of diplomatic relations between Romania and Egypt. The country’s presence is highlighted through an official press kit that provides an overview of Romania’s vision, objectives, and key aspects of its participation in this special edition of the fair.
The press kit showcases Romania’s cultural vision, main messages, and flagship events, reflecting the deep cultural cooperation between the two countries and emphasizing the role of literature and translation in strengthening people-to-people connections.
This year, Romania’s participation carries the theme “Books for Friends: From the Danube to the Nile”, symbolizing a cultural and human journey that celebrates literature, dialogue, and the exchange of ideas, while highlighting the historical and cultural ties between Bucharest and Cairo.
Organizers noted that Romania’s presence exemplifies cultural diplomacy, promoting mutual understanding and closer connections between readers and creators from both countries. The Cairo International Book Fair continues to serve as a key international platform for cultural dialogue and exchange.
Romania warmly invites journalists, intellectuals, and the public to explore the press kit and join in celebrating this historic occasion—a story of friendship, creativity, and dialogue from the banks of the Danube to the banks of the Nile.
