MP Mohamed Farouk Youssef, a member of the House of Representatives and the Egyptian Federation of Chambers of Tourism, stated that the Prime Minister’s recent emphasis on supporting the tourism sector reflects the high priority this sector holds for the state, given its crucial role in achieving key economic and developmental objectives. This focus, he noted, opens the door for further investment, particularly in expanding hotel rooms and other tourism facilities.

Farouk added that Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly’s directives to support private-sector institutions in establishing more hotels and hotel units will play a major role in attracting new investments, especially in Central and Western Cairo and Giza, amid the ongoing redevelopment of Historic Cairo and the expected influx of visitors to the Grand Egyptian Museum from around the world.
Regarding the tourism establishments sector, including restaurants and cafés, Farouk highlighted that significant growth is expected in Giza, Downtown Cairo, and Historic Cairo. He stressed the need to develop restaurants and cafés that cater to the tastes of tourists from different countries and feature a wide variety of international cuisines. He also suggested organizing an annual international food festival in coordination with the Egyptian Tourism Authority as a way to promote these key tourist destinations.
Farouk further called for unifying the licensing authorities for restaurants and cafés under a single body within the Ministry of Tourism to streamline the issuance of permits and approvals necessary for operating these businesses.
He concluded by emphasizing that the Ministry of Tourism’s efforts to facilitate and expedite the licensing of hotel rooms and vacation units will be essential in meeting the growing demand, provided that all activities remain under the full supervision of the Ministry and relevant authorities.
